Pot Psychology
by Your Imaginary Friend ([info]rocksee)
at October 6th, 2008 (09:42 am)

I absolutely WORSHIP Rich who is better known as fourfour. He is hysterical and scandalizing.

So naturally, when I saw his webisodes of Pot Psychology with Tracie Egan from Jezebel, my heart grew to unknown proportions.

Naturally, its not for the overly sensitive or the overly serious people.

Would You Ever Date A Mentally Retarded Person? from Pot Psychology on Vimeo.
Pot mixed with Q&A from two of my blogging idols?! Get me a coffin, cuz I've died and gone to heaven. Seriously, you must watch all 6 episodes. They aren't your typical high dorks. They are coherent and funny, but they laugh a lot. I'm posting the one with ANTM alum Amis because she's surprisingly awesome. I seriously LOL so much outloud that one time when I was watching it at Alex's, he had to come and tell me, "I've never heard you laugh so hard in your life." and then five seconds later, "Can you shut up?"

PS. I love my "Pugs hate Halloween icon".

Going to the cinema to see I've Loved You So Long, then out for dinner with Saul. Yum. He'll probably be called Spaul now (instead of Saul) as my previous two ex-boyfriends had nicknames (B. Boy & Hilton, whom incidentally now have, cough, other nicknames). So it only seemed natural to give Spaul his own name. Must go get ready!

body drawing
at October 5th, 2008 (07:38 pm)

I really love people drawing all over my body. I find it very relaxing and various people seem to have doodled on me, first back in 2000 or so when E wrote the words "The only words I know are MORE MORE and MORE" all over my back (lyrics from Le Tigre). Anyway, the other week A & R decided to draw flowers on me and a nice butterfly (I hadn't slept for a few days and it was a nice way to relax).

I should preface this by explaining that I live on the second floor of a funeral home, for anyone who doesn't know.

Home.

Anyway.

When I do my laundry, I take it down through the funeral parlor and to the basement. The room with the washer and dryer is all the way in the back, so I have to walk through the coffin room to get there. The coffin room is fairly dark and ominous--mostly because I don't bother to turn on lights. Every single time I go to do my laundry I extend on this story I have building in my head about a funeral director who strikes a deal with vampires, letting them stay in the coffins in the basement and feeding them from the cadavers (we don't actually have a functioning embalming room and all that, but there used to be one) in exchange for his own safety.

Man, I kind of want to write it out! I've always wanted to write a vampire story, but it's hard to come up with something that hasn't been done. It's just all I can think of when I walk down there and see the rows of coffins. I'll have to take a picture.

Saul etc
at October 5th, 2008 (12:09 pm)

Spent the last two nights in bed with Saul who is, I think, the most affectionate person I have ever met. I was supposed to meet him last night (Saturday) for a 'date' but ended up bumping into him at Ghetto (when I should have been in bed!) After chatting a lot we moved on to various other bars and I thought that he would have gone home, but he tagged along, then came home with us to stay up all night watching ridiculous comedy. He ended up staying over and it was so nice to lie in bed with a hot, affectionate, passionate person. We ended up lying in bed for so long. Then last night he came over for dinner - I remembered that he said he loved tuna steaks, so we had tuna steaks, garlic new potatos and rocket salad. Delicious. My recent insomnia (I'd been awake since Wednesday) meant that I was quite fatigued, so we lazily watched French & Saunders DVDs etc whilst being so cuddly that I thought I might eventually become absorbed into his skin. In short: it was fucking wonderful. Hurrah!

Anyway.

Here's some shots from the Isle of Wight. When we arrived (we caught the 4:30am ferry) it was absolute thick mist. We could barely see where we were going. Driving on a ridge over some fields I saw some beautiful rolling mist and we decided to hop out to shoot some stuff. Row had a gorgeous dress with her and, although very damp, we all jigged around in the mist! A very strange experience...

Look at the beautiful mist!

Has anyone seen any good films lately? I really want to see Wristcutters. In fact, I'd like to go to the cinema. But there rarely seems to be anything interesting on..

I was trying to wait until I had all of the photographs from the show, but it doesn't look like that will be happening. Several of the photographers haven't given me the photographs, yet. But I want to give a big thank you to the photographers who did keep up their end of the bargain. You are the best!

I hope everyone's been able to watch Lacey in DWTS - she and Lance are the rebel couple this season.

But! I was surprised no one posted about this to give a heads up OR after it happened to show anyone who missed it. I just watched last week's results show from my DVR and --

Anya and Pasha were the ballroom pros for Jessica Simpson's performance of "Come On Over"

And our beloved Brian Friedman choreographed and performed for the "Macy's Stars of Dance" performance

Thoughts??

Super fast update:

I was sick/injured earlier this week and missed work to be in the ER and all doped up. Spent the rest of my week trying to make up work hours

I couldn't write anything for LJ Idol and since there are no byes this time around, I'm dropping out. I won't have anything done by tomorrow.

It was fun; I was excited to try again but hey, shit happens. Best of luck to everyone else competing, and to all my friends not competing--yay! One less plea for votes on your page!

Yesterday we took a trip to the Toronto Islands, this is Jeremy gazing at the view from the cute little ferry. I didn't realise how much I'd missed ferries! Ours evidently used to be a Staten Island Ferry, or at least its lifering was. The Toronto Islands are great on a grey day in the autumn, all deserted beaches and drained fountains. Seemed like the perfect place to go if you wanted to be sad.

I'm recommitted. I'm a smart gal. I shouldn't give up. I could really pump out this fucking PhD if I just set aside the bullshit and really just remember why I went to grad school in the first place. I'm going to at least put in a good effort. I'm going to try my best to do this. I want to be accessible. I want to be a researcher. I don't want to be top-down like so many people here are. I care a lot about what I do and feel its important work. And here I was dreading going back to school, but what I forgot was there are some people who are supporting me here. I can do this. I can be Dr. Christina. I can write that book. I'm the little engine that could.

And, I won't lie, it totally helps that I still have my office with the Pacific Ocean view.
